A Closer Look at Derrick Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Perry Jones was doing what Williams was we wouldn't be able to stop you from posting non-stop (well, more than you are now). Williams leads the entire NCAA in PER. He is shooting well from EVERYWHERE. He is an explosive athlete. I do not see "Darwin Ham". Anyone else who may watch this kid more know what his weaknesses are?

He isn't the quickest and doesn't have the ability to creat his own shot off the dribble. He is a quick/explosive jumper, though, and does pretty much everything else well. And he has a good basketball IQ. As of right now he is in my top 5.

He is a smaller Blake Griffin, IMO.

imo he's like a more athletic david west than a smaller blake griffin. from what i've seen, he's nowhere near as physical or as good a rebounder, and he's also not as strong in the post. he does have a much better jumper though

2.19 points per shot...now that's ridiculous.

Wrong guy.

I really like this kid.

He played his last game with his shooting hand wrapped and still lit it up. What impresses me is even with USC double teaming him he stlll found a way to score and shot almost 100% from the floor.

Arizona plays tonight I need to scour the net for a stream.

Williams is definitely in my top 5. Still not sure if he would be my number 1, but he is moving up.

haven't seen a ton of him put he reads like a pretty good prospect. from what I have seen he looks good put I am not sure he is playing the best competition in the pac 10....but if he is David West that is a pretty good NBA player

Derrick had a good game last night. He was a beast on the boards grabbing 18 boards. He didn't take many shots and hit his only three point attempt, which is surprising with the way his hand is wrapped. You could tell it bothered him last night, he struggled from the foul line, a place where he usually thrives.

Cal was doubled and sometimes running three guys at him, he handled it very well. He either found the open man or split the defense. He did foul out, a first for him, but they were hard fouls for the most part. Sean Elliot was the color guy and he really likes Derrick. He said he will play the three in the NBA.

I think past Irving this guy would be the safest pick. And a player like Iggy with a very good shot that plays the three.
