Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

He is an odd fit.

Clark succeeded, mostly, because when he played at PF he was able to make a good impact on the game. However, his game at SF seems to be too slow and not impactful at all, which is why the Suns cut bait with him.

The reason I think it's interesting is because we already drafted on Tweener, who is a backup to another PF, for now.

This, to me, if it gets done, is interesting. Not sure why you would sign a guy whose best impact on the game is at PF, and we already have two...unless someone is getting traded.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

no he gives you Jones and Casspi in one player just a little better A good bench player

lol really.......Jones and Casspi would have never saw the floor from anywhere but the bench on the Lakers team last season.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

Clark is a decent role player, but so is Gee. Shouldn't we be focusing more on finding a quality starting SF instead of stocking our bench with several decent role players at SF? That's the way I see it. I'd be all for signing Clark if we didn't already have Miles and Gee there. We need a starter.

We already lost Speights and Ellington. Signing Earl Clark likely means Gee and or Miles are likely gone as well. I mean seriously Gee is as good as he's gonna be right now and CJ is not a part of the team going forward with the players we currently have. Ask yourself this if Gee, CJ, and Earl Clark were all FA's right now who would you pursue out of the 3 of them. PICK ONE

Before I saw him on a day-to-day basis playing in Cleveland, CJ Miles.

Probably Clark, but no one knows if Gee or Miles are likely gone unless there is a trade rumor I am missing.

CJ has already been involved in trade rumors and Gee can be a throw in to acquire another player.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

I'm not ready to give up on CJ lets see if MB can get him to play D and get his shot selection under control if not cut him or move him to the end of the bench.

Why do we need to let MB work his magic on CJ when we can replace him with a player who wants to defend and is younger and more athletic.

C'mon guys are we really resorting to this now? We wanna keeps CJ to see if he can improve his D?

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

I just hope the Cavs aren't going after the quantity over quality approach. Several OK small forwards don't necessarily have the same impact as one quality small forward.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

Anyone remember how Gee had one good season after years of awfulness and then we threw money at him and he promptly started sucking again?

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it...

from the last time I looked he was still with the team and low cost. CJ is only 26 and he is athletic, it is not his age or skills it is his head, plus I think Scott tried to make him a SF when he is a backup SG.

So whould we have given Casspi a second chance as well? He's young and Byron Scott had him in the dog house.

Re: My Name Is Earl ... Clark?

The Earl Clark signing would not be for this year as much as it would be for when we're contending for titles. I would love to sign a player like Clark who provides size, some shooting, rebounding, and versatility to switch between the 3/4. He's the type of player that if was on the Spurs this postseason, everyone would be raving about how under appreciated he is.
