Cleveland Browns 2017 Training Camp

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Excited to catch some Notre Dame this fall and see if Equanimious St. Brown makes a jump as a receiver. He's 6'4 runs around a 4.5 and already has a rapport with Kizer. I'm going to guess he needs to learn a more developed route tree, but that's what Al Saunders is for.
Keys I am with you,I thought about him right away once Kizer was drafted and this is why

I read that the Bucs might cut Jeremy McNichols. Browns should be all over that. Very talented RB prospect.

The question is are the Browns going to keep 3 or 4 RBs?

We have Crowell, Johnson and likely Dayes already making the roster with Vitale as the FB. One of the other guys left will be put on the practice squad more than likely since to me they haven't done enough to making the roster. I am all for having more talent in the RB department but my hunch is they are running with those 4 guys between RB and FB.

3 names I know that have been mentioned as available

Jarvis Landry
Phillip Dorsett
Allen Hurns

The biggest question is how will Kizer play with them on the field? So far he hasn't done a great job of hitting his check downs (so I only see two WR really getting any numbers this season). He can make all the throws but is still learning all the reads. Landry I know will be a free agent after this season what will the other two guys be? Plus with him being a free agent next season are we going to be able to resign him or will he just walk? I am all for upgrading the roster, but we have to get a guy for the long term, not just this season.

With what we have in the draft, we likely will need a top flight WR especially a big WR like him. Would you compare him to like an Evans in TB? @Randolphkeys as well for the question.

No I don't think he will be the same WR as Evans. Probably a notch below, but I think he can he had in the late first early second range as of today. But a lot can change. The closest thing in this draft to Evans is probably Courtland Suttton from SMU.

Last year he looked like a guy who needs to become more physical. He has great YAC potential because he is faster than DBs think. He can take a hit after the catch but doesn't protect his body as well as he should. He's a serious threat in the red zone and fights for balls on the fade route. Low end Martavis Bryant, high end is AJ Green in how he is used. I expect his numbers to be down because ND is going to have inexperience at QB.

As an ND fan he has looked crazy good. I honestly expect his numbers to jump. Wimbush looks like the real deal.

Dayes is a shit-tier prospect. He's an absolutely godawful athlete. His burst score was 0th percentile. That's not a type-o. Zero.

McNichols is a fantastic prospect who may only be getting cut because of a shoulder injury that caused him to miss a lot of camp, putting him behind. He's also in a very crowded backfield with three other quality backs, which made him holding on to a spot even more difficult. He's a great athlete (over 50th percentile 40, speed score, burst, and agility) who was dominant in college, has a BMI that hints at workhorse potential, and was an elite pass catcher in school as well.

Given how this front office seems to value stats like SPARQ-x (I can't find a score for McNichols, presumably because he couldn't do the bench press at the Combine due to his shoulder injury, but I'd assume he'd have a score over the 50th percentile), McNichols would seem like a no brainer to take over Matthew fucking Dayes. McNichols probably would have been a third round pick had it not been for the injury.

"Master of none".. Sounds like an Arian Foster eval. Really it doesn't mean much what the draft scouting report says if the guy produces in actual game reps, which is what Dayes has done.

Honestly have you watched Dayes play in the preseason?

^^^That's the first time I've seen anyone bash Dayes. Everything I've seen and heard about him has been positive and he's done pretty well with the reps he's gotten.

I'm not saying he can't be successful, but he's not a good prospect. McNichols, on the other hand, is a great prospect with an athletic profile that hints at a potential bell cow back.

I think it's pretty clear he hasn't...

Dayes has been phenomenal.

I don't put a lot of stock in preseason performances. I'm simply evaluating both Dayes and McNichols as prospects, and McNichols is a significantly better prospect. As I said, he likely would have been a third round pick if not for the shoulder injury. Fourth at worst. He profiles similarly to Melvin Gordon. He was dominant in college and is a great athlete and an excellent pass-catching back.

He's exactly the type of guy a team like the Browns should be taking a shot on if he gets cut by a team that's loaded at RB. This is especially true given Crowell's uncertain future with the team.

And again, I'm not saying that Dayes can't or won't be successful in the NFL, but he's basically just a guy. He's a non-athlete. Maybe he works hard enough to carve out a role in the NFL, but I'd rather take my chances on a much more talented prospect on a rebuilding team like the Browns.

MchNichols is such a great prospect the he will most likely get cut as a rookie on a team without an established RB (Bucs are looking for any reason to cut Martin, but will have to keep him by default). Come on now.
