Derrick Rose: Outta Here!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If IT is gone you risk playing Wade and Rose more minutes than their body is able to handle.

Why are you putting IT and Shump like they are even remotely comparable in value to this team? IT offensively was special last season, give him a chance.

Because people were saying "give Shump a chance" last year, too. And they were wrong as well.

IT should be traded for whatever we can get.

WHAT???

I was one of the ONLY people calling for trading Shumpert early last year. Everyone was drooling over his 3pt percentage, and I new it was fools gold.

Two years ago I thought it was worth keeping Shumpert, and it was the right thing to think so at the time.

Sorry then. Got confused between the two sides.

Because people were saying "give Shump a chance" last year, too. And they were wrong as well.

Not comparable situation.

IT's value isn't going to crush the longer the season progresses. It was pretty easy to predict Shump playing at that level was unsustainable and his value was going to cursh, especially since his D has completely gone to shits even when he was balling on offense.

The only negative to trading IT later rather than now is that the player is going to lack chemistry with the team as we approach the playoffs.

IT should have never been an MVP candidate. That was Boston media sucking his dick.
Be that as it may, I just outlined a ton of reasons why trading IT (for draft picks nonetheless) and banking on Rose alone would be a fool's errand in a year where winning a title takes priority.

I'm with the other guy, if you can improve the team by moving IT you do it. But moving him for draft picks??? Fuck mate.

True. I can't argue with the injury concerns for Rose and Wade. But IT is hardly a stopgap for injury concerns. We still don't know if he will even by playable come June.

Also, another good draft pick would be something we could use to improve the team in the offseason. Whereas, if we keep him, he doesn't help us win, and he signs somewhere else, then we've literally gotten ZERO value out of IT.

That would be STUPID, and there's a reasonable probability of this outcome.

I can't believe people are talking about trading IT. He can get 30 on any given night, and that was in Boston where defenses could key in on him. Here we have LeBron, Wade, Rose and Love that defenses have to worry about too. We need guys that can lessen the offensive load on LeBron.

I don't want to rely on Rose's knees holding up. He looks very good out there but you never know with him. I'm all in on this season because I think we have a legitimate chance of beating Golden State. I see no reason to trade IT, especially not for a draft pick.

What? Are you unaware of the immense talent we have on this team?

Do you honestly think that 2 injured and over-valued combo guards are the key to keeping LBJ?

That is absurd.

If Wade and Rose stay healthy and play well, and play within their roles, then IT is not only expendable but potentially a big disruption to add into a well-oiled rotation in late January.

Are you not aware of the overwhelming firepower that GSW has???

Our front office has worked hard to compile a very deep and talented roster, and you now want to jettison players and undo all that hard work?

LBJ wants to see constant commitment to winning championships. Trading away a guy who is capable of putting up 30 on any given night is the exact opposite of that.

That was BEFORE a debilitating injury that kept him from playing in the playoffs when it mattered most.

To assume that he'll return to form is foolish. Just as it was foolish to assume that Shumpert would perform in the playoffs for us last year.

I made this same argument last year about Shumpert, and everyone said I was wrong.

This is the EXACT same situation with IT. IT is fools gold.

We don't need IT to be the IT of last year. Even if he's only 75-80% of the player he was last year that's still better than anything we could trade him for. Teams aren't going to give up good draft picks for him.

I'd be fine with a late/future first because I don't think he'll be playing in June, and I don't want to lose him for nothing.

That's crazy to me. If you trade IT for a late first that's going to piss LeBron off and increase the possibility that he leaves. The championship window is now. You don't make moves that increase the chances of your championship window slamming shut.

How do you know this???

If LeBron wants to stay, he could just as well appreciate that we have even more assets to add more talent in the future.

Both could be true. I would hope that the front office would ask LBJ's opinion before making such trades. I would only want to do it if he agreed, of course.

Because LeBron isn't a spring chicken anymore. He has a few more years left as LeBron and I doubt he wants to punt on one of them on the off chance we get picks that can later be turned into an asset better than IT.

We finally have good depth and a team that can likely compete with LeBron off the court so I don't see a reason to mess with that. We're not going to go something like -14 in the two minutes that LeBron rests if IT is running the offense. When IT comes back either he or Rose starts and the other comes off the bench to run the second unit. Having IT will reduce Rose's minutes and help keep him healthy. Our #1 goal for the season is to get to the Finals healthy and keeping IT helps with that.

Sure, IT helps with keeping the team healthy, IF in fact he returns to health.

You're assuming something that has yet to be proven, and we likely won't know until after the deadline. That's a big risk that no one is talking about.

That risk also diminishes his trade value.
