Also, and I believe someone has been mentioning this but I can't seem to remember who, but supposedly he has been having problems with his foot for a few seasons now...same foot he has a problem with now with us that's causing him to miss games right now.
That is correct.
The foot has even been bothering him for some time this season. But it is just one of those things that a 35 year old in this league deals with. At some point in the year, it will flare up and you will need to take a little time off and rest it. It's a manageable thing.
The Cavs know what they're doing. I trust the training staff. They did a GREAT job last season bringing Kyrie along slowly, and getting him at his peak health at the perfect time so he could have a strong playoffs. They did a decent job keeping the oft-injured Delly healthy throughout most of the year. And it wasn't their fault that Mozgov's procedure wasn't successful, and he ended up needing a lot of time to get over it.
They've also done a great job keeping Shumpert healthy this year, and did a good job getting him ready in 14-15 since he was injured at the time of the trade. He was great that year, and even when he tweaked his groin in the finals, they did a good job helping him still be effective. His wrist tear last year was just a freak thing really. Just like JR's thumb this year.
And with Love, he's sustained some big injuries, and had some nagging stuff, but they've always done a good job at making sure that when he returned from injury, things went well. Which is why I'm optimistic about this year.
The most questionable thing was Kyrie's knee fiasco in the playoffs two years ago, but there was nothing structural early on, and it was the playoffs, so what could they really do? He sat for a lot of the playoffs anyway, and tried to come back for the NBA fricken finals...hard to blame them for that one...really hard.
I trust the training staff to have this team, with our current injury situation, ready to go physically for the playoffs. Obviously, they can't control any new injuries that come up....that's life in the NBA...but they have done a good job managing the cards we've been dealt so far this year. They are a solid staff.
