Free Agent 2012 Targets

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
there is never a shortage of high-fives with WW

I don't think the Thunder will have a choice. If Harden gets a max offer I don't think they can match. Between Durant, Westbrook, Perkins, Thabo, Collison and Lazar Haywood they will have 53.4 Million spent, on 6 players. If the lux tax is 72M, that leaves them about $19M to pay Harden, Ibaka, Maynor--and that will still leave only 9 players, they need 5 or 6 more. And this is the year the luxury tax penalty goes up significantly.

I would MUCH prefer Harden over Gordon.

This off-season I want Asik and Mahinmi--draft Barnes or MKG. Next off-season try and get Harden and with our pick a floor spacing big man--to me PF or C doesn't matter (to me the NBA is pretty much PG, 2 wings, 2 bigs).

2013-14
Irving-Gibson
Harden-Eyenga
Barnes-Gee (Gee can back up SG also), maybe Casspi
TT-Mahinmi-Samuels
AV-Asik

Very athletic, potentially elite D. And we would have plenty of scoring with Irving-Harden and Barnes. I think by this year TT will have a respectable jump shot from 15 ft or so. We also would have our 2013 #1 pick and the Heat pick to add to this team.

If this team continues to play like it is, they won't be anywhere near the position they need to be to draft Harrison Barnes.

You are correct. I have a feeling our front office will make sure we lose enough games to be around a pick high enough where maybe we add some sweetener to our pick to move up a few spots. But yes, my scenario has a lot of best case in it.

I liked that scenario too and would be happy if that's what the team looked like.

Sadly, I think the only way we can really ensure the team won't win enough games is to move AV, and I don't trust the front office to do that.

This is going to be an awesome offseason for us. We'll not only add some young talent from the draft (hopefully future super-star or at least all-star worthy), but we'll also have the opportunity to sign some big free agents, which we absolutely have to take advantage of. The nice thing is that we'll actually look like a promising team to sign onto this next offseason.

And man would it be nice to have Gordon. He's a little undersized, but we'd solve the issue or not having a pick to grab the other missing wing in our line-up after the 2012 draft.

Sorry if the link doesnt work right I was in my phone

However I saw this article today on RealGM. Apparently he has been disappointed by most of the offers he has received from them. This article says that he will most likely become a free agent. If we don't get to draft MKG he would be a pretty nice pickup at the 3 even if he is French.

hollinger thinks the Blazers have all the leverage here as Batum is restricted. They're playing this out like we did with AV a couple of years ago. The only way we get him is to give him a ridiculous deal and while I certainly like Batum he's not worth it.

Just watched Harden on NBA TV against the Warriors. Sign me up for a big contract to bring him here over the off-season. Kid could average atleast 20 points a game playing along side of Kyrie and a starting role. Would be a good backcourt!

I thought his contract was up after next season?

Here is a complete list. my apologies if i missed someone or missed their contract status update.

those guys being available make guys like mayo, hill and lee more accesible. a strong veteran presence in the free agent pool means opens up the cavs to get the type of players they are looking for.

people seem to think free agency is only viable to get big stars but its good place to find young talent pre packaged with nba experience

Asik, Mahinmi, and Dragic would be people I take a look at.

Asik is restricted but the Bulls have a lot of money tied up already.
Dragic is 25 and would be a good backup for Kryie once Sessions hit the road
Mahinmi another center who is 25

Asik is a possibility, but only as a big off the bench. Not a started imo, so don't pay him like one.

I think Mayo will be the guy we target. He will be a great fit for this offense. He can play off the ball and can create with the ball in his hands. My main concern is that Indy makes a run at him, but I think they'll throw more at IU product Eric Gordon.
