Would you trade for Melo?

Moved thread to the Trade Forum since there hasn't been much "news" outside Broussard.

Would you trade for Melo?

Trade what is the question?

But more importantly, I don't think Carmelo Anthony is the kind of player that "fits" with Irving in most, if any offense, as both are extremely ball-dominant. Could it work? Possibly, but it would require Irving taking some serious steps back as Melo isn't likely to change his game at this point in his career.

Concisely, I think playing Melo and Irving together isn't what one would wish to do - but it's not a bad problem to hold Melo or Irving's contracts. So trading for them is again, a different question.

Interesting... Only If we knew he would stay and had not shot at you know who. He would have to prove he can carry a team to the next level so If he Is the only option why not. But for the price he will demand might mean alot of first round picks

Melo and Iverson both averaged +25ppg in Denver. If Melo and Iverson can play together than I'm almost certain at this stage in Melo's career he could play with Kyrie.

I'm really being serious about this trade. If we get Melo with Kyrie we could be top 4 in the East this year easy.

I understand the fact that Melo may not commit long term but if we get him and he and Kyrie start rolling then who knows what could happen in the off season.

If we're gonna trade for a star player I actually think Melo could be available considering our assets and the fact that it's very likely that he's not staying in NY after this season anyway.

If he leaves in the off season than move on but we have to at least entertain this idea.

Why would Melo come here? The reason he moved to NY was to be in a market which can market him and he is from there right?

Kyrie is the point guard version of Carmelo. The ball would never move with both of them on the floor.

I would trade for Melo, but I don't think he would fit this team at all.

Are you looking at the team as it is now or how it would look after we give up a package to get him?

Seems more accurate to look at the team next year after we give up a package to get him and he opts out and leaves in free agency.

Can I get the lotto numbers for this Friday while you're at it?

Would you trust Melo to stay here if we traded for him? I wouldn't, and neither would our front office. He's said he wants to play in a big market. He's not going to stay in Cleveland. If you think otherwise, you're delusional.

The only way I take Melo is if he comes here as a free agent and agrees to a long-term contract. Trading for a guy with an opt-out after this season is a recipe for disaster, especially given the package it would likely take to trade for him.

As Keys pointed out, it's really a bad time to offer a trade. Melo will not forgo free agency by signing an extension - so if you really want him on the team, offer him a max contract in the summer. But trading for him now, at this point, makes absolutely no sense. You're really be exposing yourself to unnecessary risk that you'd just get burned like the Lakers did with Howard.

Didn't you guys learn from the Knicks?

There's literally no reason at all to trade for Melo. If he wants to come here, he will in the summer. Let's not gut the team and such and make our lives more miserable.

We can't dump Bynum until 12/15, correct? Seems like he'll hold more value as a guy that can be cut in order to save 6m vs the luxury tax for someone. Can we trade Tristan and Bynum to the Raps for derozen, maybe a pick, and a throw in salaryoto get them under the luxury cap? Am I incorrect in my relative valuations of players? It would make our roster make more sense.
