JJ Hickson: AKA "4 TIMES THE SHYTTTTTTTTT"

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: JJ Hickson: Should he retire ?

by far and away the most frustrating player I have seen in years.

Re: JJ Hickson: Should he retire ?

The Celtics were in good form tonight. It's hard for the best players in the NBA to play good against them, Hickson couldn't get his jumper to fall tonight and it made it way easier to guard him. The Celts did what the Celts do.

Re: JJ Hickson: Should he retire ?

LMAO at the title

But anyone notice that when he was drafted we thought of him as more of a postup presence. And last year he started exploding due to garbage buckets, assisted buckets and some face up. But very few back to the baskets. Just saying though, Im a lil disappointed of that

Re: JJ Hickson: Should he retire ?

1 point.... 11 rebounds..... its not entirely JJ's fault that the only way he is put into position to score is A)jumpshots, B)iso or C) JUNK.... Celtics aren't going to allow a lot of JUNK..... and iso doesn't work to his favor against 7ft KG (and a team that has trouble with entry passes).... his jumpshot wasn't falling.... so he didn't score..... he still affected the game positively with rebounds.... just my quick thoughts

Re: JJ Hickson: Should he retire ?

Do we really think it's a good idea to keep an ongoing JJ thread? This kid is 22 years old people. The game tonight and sucking as bad as we did is NOT all on this kid. Why the trashing of him? Give it up already. The Cavs suck as a team. I strongly dislike the singling out of players like this. Don't think for a second players don't read in here. They do. The suckiness of the team is not based on one guy or even two or three guys. The team sucks as they can't seem to get up to play games half the time.

Give JJ a break. He's catching enough grief anyway.

Re: JJ Hickson: Should he retire ?

scott did make a point that he had 11 rebounds, he just needs to learn to score and keep getting those rebounds, and he could be a very good player, and its still very early in the season, so maybe he will develop some scoring skills

Re: JJ Hickson: Should he retire ?

Im torn on JJ Hickson, I went to the Hawks game when he nailed jumper after jumper and went for 31. I felt like this could be the start of something good. Thenhe goes 6 games without scoring in double figures. Byron just said he couldn't find his offense tonight, but he had 11 reb. I dont know what to do with him.
Is it confidence? Maybe. Scott is pushing him really hard, which will benefit him in the long run.
Call me crazy, but I feel like he is a disciple of "he who shall not be named". He was under his wing and probably really looked up to him. I feel like that built an arrogance and a me first mentality. I feel like if we can move JJ for something we should look a little more into it. I like Scott's gameplan, but theres too much filler on the roster that wont be here 1-2 yrs down the road that gets too much time because they keep us in games.
Like someone else said wait til February and see if he gets it. I dont wanna move him at the deadline, but he knows Tawn will be on the move, the question is does he step up? If he doesn't we should just move him for a pick.
JJ Sullinger anyone? lol

Re: JJ Hickson: Should he retire ?

There is no spacing on the court for him. There's not much you can do when you get the ball and you run into 2 defenders. His jumper is not there anymore either. That part of his game is still a work in progress. In pick and roll situations he is still running into 2 guys because the defenders want Moon and Graham to shoot long jumpers. Give JJ space and allow him to regain confidence in his game and you will get 15+ ppg a night.

Re: JJ Hickson: Should he retire ?

Consistency is the one thing that JJ needs to have.

It's a cavs board. We should be allowed to discuss Cavs topics, including JJ Hickson being terrible. I mean, if Hickson reads this and gets down on himself, could he possibly get any worse than he is now anyway?

This. I think he can do well with a big that can hit 15-18 foot jumpers. That's why I think acquiring Jason Thompson can benefit JJ.

Re: JJ Hickson: Should he retire ?

JJ was looking pretty bad tonight. He's been horribly inconsistent and I have no idea what to expect from him. I'm not one to think we should trade him before next season as I'd like to see if he does develop at all. Primarily if we put a nice piece or two on the cavs around the deadline that could take some defensive pressure and give him open looks. But as of now, I enjoy watching this more than JJ
