NBA Draft Lottery Tuesday, May 17th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How does Agbaji compare to Mikal Bridges in your model if you don’t mind me asking?

Model loved Bridges. He is one of the higher ranked wings in it in the last 5 years or so.

His ability to shoot off the dribble is what stands out the most to me. He looks like he has excellent balance. Can go up from catching the ball and still shoot. His finishing around the basket seems to indicate that balance as well.

I think he would work on this team. Totally agree the handle is pretty questionable. Will that work in the NBA?

My model flags him as a bust candidate because he lacks non scoring value, which is one of the calculations I track as well.

And it doesn't seem like he has anything resembling offensive juice at the NBA level.

He's a below average rebounder, he's below average as an assist generator and just average in stock categories.

Will he be able to shoot? Probably. But you don't take a good, non creating shooter relative to our roster. At least not to me.

We need more guys who can create, IMO, even at the expense of some shooting.

Agbaji from my early scouting look more like a Malik Beasley comparison, when I watch Beasley very athletic, but mainly a dead eye shooter off the pass…..

The 3pt shooting is something we need but lack of ball handling and defensive versatility could make for an odd fit. He is basically the same size as Okoro, half an inch shorter but a slightly larger wingspan. If he can't help out with being a secondary ball handler then like Okoro he puts an added load on Garland.

This is going to maybe sound wild to many...........but Dyson Daniels has the best pro profile I've seen out of the G-league. As in ever.

And even setting the G-League aside, out of guys who played pro basketball as a teen, he really only trails LaMelo in impact.

I think he's going to be someone a lot of teams like in the lead up to the pre draft stuff.

Was so impressed by his transition as an international. He didn't shoot it great.......but he impacts the game across many categories and has room to get better.

Relative to G-League peers these past two seasons, his production was pretty far out there.

I assume you mean Malik Beasley? Michael Beasley was a SF/PF who could score some but wasn't a shooter.

I think Dyson Daniels could be a real good fit for us. I'm interested to see what he measures out at. If we can play him at PG, SG, and SF while he can defend all of those 3 positions, he makes it alot easier to build out lineups with our current roster.

I could see him as a bigger, more athletic version of Delly. His size should allow him to defend more positions than Delly and his athleticism should allow him to not have to play constantly at 110% like Delly. He seems to run an offense alot like Delly and relies alot on his floater too.

Yeah I totally agree with this. If there is young cheap talent to be had, you go get that shit. Having a roster full of expensive veterans is the worst way to build a team. You start locking yourself into what you have and your flexibility becomes limited. I’m never a huge fan of trading first round picks away unless absolutely necessary. Golden State has Jordan Poole and Kuminga who are both absolutely necessary talents for them to have going forward. They really blew it with Wiseman. Maybe if anyone can rehab his career they can. But Kuminga and Poole are going to be their most important depth pieces as Klay, Steph and Draymong continue to age and be expensive as shit.
Problem is those pieces that the Dubs have are complimentry pieces. We are in need of a tall (6’5-6’6) SG (that can’t actually shoot or a 6’7 wing player that can shoot and create off the dribble. There are no “young cheap” pieces like that out there. Which leaves players like Beal (via trade) but that will cost us assets that we may not want to give up. So we look to the draft for a young piece to fit the bill.

I don't think Thibs does but Reddish got hurt for the season before Thibs was willing to play him. Realistically I think Okoro is a player Thibs would love and if we could swap them it might actually be for the best for both players.
i actually think this makes sense

So happy to hear this. He’s one of my favorite players in this draft, but I just worried so much about his shooting that I didn’t think he could fit.

Sometimes you just draft the talent when it’s so clearly there though.

Rather swap Okoro straight up for the present day contributions and attitude of Alec Burks over the Reddish lottery ticket/rollercoaster. Burks has shot over 40% from three for each of the last three seasons and the last time he shot below 36% from 3 was the 2017-2018 season.

Do that and of course still draft a wing at 14. but by adding Burks shooting/scoring, you may be more comfortable betting on a long term development of an Eason, Sochan, or Brown, who still have work to do on offense but have great NBA length for the wing position.

Would still consider Ochai at 14 if we added Burks as well.
