Re: Posey opted out; On Cavs radar?
Whoever is signed for this role is probably not going to get major minutes. Not sure if the Cavs should invest big money or the entire MLE in this spot. Right now the Cavs will have Wally and Sasha playing the majority of the SG minutes. Both can also provide backup minutes at SF. There will also be times when Gibson and West play together in the backcourt. Of course it all changes if Wally gets traded.
I like Posey and he would help but have to agree with others that it would be a mistake to hand out a 4 or 5 year contract to a 31 year old perimeter player.
Pietrus is also probably seeking the full MLE. I'd be more willing to invest the money in him rather than Posey due to age.
If the Cavs did decide to spend the full MLE on another wing player than Josh Childress would be my top choice. The most versatile of this group and is also still young.
It might make more sense to just go cheap to fill this spot. It's mainly for depth purposes and can probably be done at a cheap price. Kirk Snyder is a young SG with decent all around ability who can defend fairly well and is someone the Cavs have had interest in the past. He's also now an unrestricted FA since the T-Wolves didn't give him a qualifying offer.
