Raptors Privately Considering Trading Bosh

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs17:

For someone who thinks the idea sure is impossible, you sure are dedicating a lot of time researching/thinking about it...

That was just a little part of what I said lol. You two pulled that out real quick.

I didnt edit your quote but the part i read from what you posted is the part i commented on. :dunno:

I looked at 2 articles. After reading them, I feel its very unlikely to get Bosh. I NEVER SAID I DIDNT WANT HIM SO THATS WHY I LOOK, I ALSO CAN PRAY SOMEONE COMES TO SERIOUSLY HELP LJ.

He also stated he would like a Max Contract.

Okay. So....?

Thats about 30 million dollars.

No, it's not anywhere close to that. A 7 year NBA veteran can make a maximum of 30% of the salary cap, which means the highest starting salary Lebron or Bosh can sign for is around $16.5 million based on a $55 million cap.

If he wanted to play beside Lebron they both would have to take less money.

Why? If we trade for Bosh, we own his and Lebron's Bird Rights, meaning we can go as far over the cap as we like to give them a contract. There is no limit to what we can pay them up to the max. Why would they both have to take less money?

Bosh stated he would like to play with Wade.

When did he say that? You got a link?

I just think having to sign him to a huge contract at the same time having to give up so much for him might be to much.

Maybe, but wouldn't his talent and Lebron's satisfaction be worth that price?

Besides the Heat and Bulls have more to offer.

The Heat have nothing to offer. They have one of the weakest rosters outside of Wade in the NBA.

The Bulls may have something to offer, but if Bosh doesn't plan on re-signing there, there's no way Chicago gives up anything of value to get him for one year.

Long story short, I don't know how realistic it is either. It's probably a severe long shot.

I'm just saying think stuff through, maybe learn a little about the CBA, then post your opinions.

I think Windhorst is correct. If Ben Wallace choses a 5 million dollar buyout, then that means we can to someone Pavs and Wallace and they are only on the hook for 6.5 million and yet they get 20 million in cap relief. THAT IS INSANE. These arent just normal expiring deals. These are super abnormal expiring deals. To possibly have 20 million in expiring contracts with 6.5 million guaranteed would make Phoenix think twice.

I dunno if this has already been fixed by someone else in this thread, because I am too lazy to look ahead, and then come on back...

If we buy out Ben even for $1, he cannot be traded. He becomes a free agent the SECOND he receives any money aimed at buying out his contract. It's just that the buyout amount is charged to our cap.

What we can do is trade him with the understanding that he will retire. Once he arrives at his new team, he can retire and take a buyout with that team. Whichever team ends up making a trade with us for Ben's salary, will presumably be willing to foot the bill for a buyout, since that is much more desirable than paying the salary in full...the possibilities are endless. Of course, if worst comes to worst, and someone is willing to take Ben for the cap relief, but is iffy about footing the cash for a buyout, then Dan Gilbert who leaves no expense spared will probably offer to partially re-imburse whoever takes Ben, so that a buyout is easier on them fiscally.

In any case, there is a monkey on the Cavs' back. The front office should be committed to doing whatever it takes to get that monkey off our back. We all know who that monkey is...and he's got to go. A trade of Ben's contract is our biggest weapon here. The only way we don't use it this summer is if what we are able to get for it is less than satisfactory (for whatever reason), or if we are able to really add to this team with the MLE and with Sasha's non-guaranteed expiring (thus leading to Ben's retirement resulting in more-than-welcome luxury tax savings).

I know people were looking for that Cowherd interview with Bosh

Cowherd: So, everybody wants me to ask you here at ESPN. You've got that free agent thing coming. You know, Cleveland's looking for some help in the frontcourt. I mean, what's the deal with you, Chris? You gonna stay? You gonna go? What are you gonna do?

Bosh: (Laughs) I mean, there's been so much talk about it, it makes me focus on right now. I don't know what's gonna happen. Right now, I'm happy in Toronto. It's kinda funny because I get it from both ends. Any city I go to, they're like "Man, you need to come and play here!" And then in Toronto, they're like, "We need you to stay." So it's kind of a double negative for me wherever I go. I just try to stay calm. I can't predict the future. I just try to be the best player I can be right now and work on my game.

Cowherd: You're a great player and a great kid. By the way, Toronto's cold. Cleveland's got balmy weather in the winter. I would suggest a move to beautiful Cleveland.

(Both Laugh)

Cowherd: Let's be honest, it would be kind of sweet to play with LeBron. I mean, doesn't everyone else in the NBA think that?

Bosh: Well, I think anytime you get a chance to play with a great player, it's pretty sweet. You know, most of the time, it's like, "Man, what if, what if, what if? I wish I could play with this guy, I wish I could play with that guy." Very seldom is it a reality. That's something we talked about with [Team] USA. That's something that LeBron said himself. He was like, "Man, I always wish I could play with Dwight Howard, I wish I had Chris Paul as my point guard."

So that's something that guys always wish for. You know, every now and then you actually get the chance to do it.

...to the Heat?

Toronto Raptors' Chris Bosh interested in playing for Miami Heat
By BARRY JACKSON
bjackson@MiamiHerald.com

The Heat's interest in Chris Bosh apparently is mutual. A friend of the Toronto power forward said Bosh has interest in playing for Miami, which would love to add him via trade this summer or free agency in 2010.

Bosh assuredly will dismiss any report linking him to another team because he doesn't want to upset the Raptors and doesn't need to decide his future for 13 months. But the friend said playing in Miami appeals to him.

With Bosh announcing he will test free agency in 2010, a competing executive who spoke to Raptors president Bryan Colangelo said Toronto appears open to considering offers for Bosh and likely would consider a package that includes Michael Beasley -- if the Heat overcomes reluctance to trade Beasley.

There are good reasons not to trade Beasley. For starters, Miami has a good chance to lure Bosh in 2010 free agency. And with the salary cap expected to drop in 2010, the Heat -- if it can sign Bosh and Dwyane Wade next summer -- would not have money left to sign a third player as skilled as Beasley. The risk is that if Bosh is traded to a team other than Miami, there's a chance he might want to stay there long-term.

The 2010 maximum-contract caliber free agents (Wade, LeBron James, Bosh, Amare Stoudemire) can make about $30 million more in their next contract by re-signing with their teams. So Bosh could ask for a sign-and-trade next summer. For now, it's hard to envision Toronto accepting a Heat offer that does not include Beasley, though there are packages involving Udonis Haslem that would fit salary-cap rules.

A friend of Wade's said he indicated privately that he wants to stay with Miami long-term. But is Wade impatient for the team to be built into a championship contender, even though it might not happen until 2010?

''I'm a Heat player under contract,'' Wade said this offseason, adding there's no choice ''but to be patient. I know everyone wants to fast-track this team, and that's what makes me excited about the future. We're taking the right steps.'' Wade has said he will not sign with New York because of the weather.

Could Bosh Be L.A.-Bound?
By: Joel Brigham Last Updated: 1/10/10 9:03 AM

It's become very clear in recent weeks which NBA players are going to be front and center on the list of players to be talked about non-stop in trade rumors between now and the February 18th trade deadline, and Chris Bosh is right at the tippy-top of that list.

We've heard for a while now that Bosh could be traded (despite the fact that Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo continues to insist that it's his intention to keep his All-Star in Canada long term), but seldom have we heard actual, specific deals being thrown out there for us to consider. Leave it up to the New York Post's Peter Vescey to remedy that.

According to one of Vescey's sources, the L.A. Lakers could offer Andrew Bynum for Bosh. The idea behind such a trade (or any trade they may make for Bosh) is that Toronto doesn't get left with nothing should their franchise player bolt in free agency. Trade him now and get some value, which admittedly Bynum would be. He's a talented, young center with the potential to dominate, and he's under contract for three more years. The Raps could move Andrea Bargnani over to the four and have a pretty solid frontcourt, at least for a few more years.

But somehow Bynum doesn't feel like enough for Bosh. The Lakers' center is talented, but he's also spent a lot of the last couple years injured, and with Toronto likely getting offers from 29 NBA teams for Bosh, it's hard to believe that Drew Bynum and another player thrown in to match contracts would be the best offer out there. Lakers fans have to love the idea of a Pau Gasol/Chris Bosh frontcourt, but right now it seems like a little bit of a fairy tale.

Colangelo continues to go on record as saying they really aren't exploring trading Bosh right now, and considering Toronto has won eight of their last nine (including some wins over pretty good teams) and are now back over .500, the emergency to move the big guy isn't as omnipresent as it was before this run. The idea of moving Bosh while they can get something for him isn't going to go away, which is why Bosh's name is going to move from trade rumors the next several weeks, but expect specific offers like this one to start surfacing as we approach the deadline. Teams want Bosh, and there's the possibility that he could be available, meaning this is going to be news for a while.

This article is based off of Peter Vescey's sources.

Means it's trash.

Miami is quickly becoming the hot spot for the free agent stars, mostly LBJ and Bosh. I could see one of them going there, definitely. I could see one coming to Cleveland if Ferry had played his cards right and we had cap space...but alas, it was not to be.

Look....if I had to put money it.....Bosh is getting traded before the deadline.

I easily see both him and Boozer going (I see a ton of trades happening, honestly).

Miami, Chicago, New Orleands, & Golden State are all teams I can see them going to, with Houston & maybe Cleveland as real long-shots.

I'm convinced Miami will re-sign Wade and land Bosh. LeBron stays in Cleveland, and ESPN starts talking about Kevin Durant craving a bigger stage.

Can't wait until 2012, when the best teams in the league are Cleveland, Miami, Portland, Memphis, Atlanta, Sacramento and Oklahoma City. Fuck the major markets.

Bynum for Bosh? really?

I think DJ Mbenga, Sasha Vujabitch and a first in 2018 is more realistic.
