Raptors Privately Considering Trading Bosh

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the whole "fan favorite" thing might just be getting to some people who don't want to give up Delonte. Obviously I want to keep him too. I'd rather not trade him because he is a good young player. Just saying, he isn't a dude who would hold up a deal for another All Star, is all I'm saying.

My reasons for wanting to keep Delonte has nothing to do with him being a fan favorite. His game fits too well next to LBJ. He's got the ability and the tenacity to do what is asked of him. When you finally find a player that "gets it" you don't just give him away for a marginal upgrade.

So Xsabre if Delonte and Bosh had the same salary you wouldn't do a Delonte for Bosh trade?

Absolutely not. As much as I love Bosh, he's not the piece that puts us over the top. Bosh looked like shit the minute the whole paternity issue popped up this season. If the man can't play basketball without letting outside influences distract him, he's not the guy I want. There's no more upside or potential left to Bosh. He is who he is.

Am I the only one that would DO a Delonte for Bosh trade?? I'm sorry D. West is a really good player but Bosh is a Superstar that get's 20 and 10 every night! The core of Lebron, Bosh and Mo would be SWEET!!!!

I would not even call Delonte "really good". He's a good player, probably best suited as a 6th man off the bench (and would be SICK in that role) who plays with a lot of heart and makes funny jokes that the fans get a kick out of.

I don't want to lose Delonte but to me, besides LeBron, there is no sacred cow on this team. Our front court is as old as the supreme court...we need to improve and Bosh is a huge step up.

Which is a 22/10 guy.

Sign me up.

Box scores do not tell the whole story. He's one of the softest PF's in the league. He might as well be a black Dirk without the 3 range.

Out for 492 possible games in his career, he's only played in 439.

Do we have a defensive center that can bang in the paint? Bosh sure as hell won't spend any time there.

The next person that says Mo is a core member needs slapped. Core players don't shoot 30% in the playoffs.

Once again cmstophe I agree with you 100%!! Maybe really good was a little bit of a stretch! I would thank you but I don't have enough posts :chuckles:

Well Sabre I am not gonna change your mind obviously. I know Bosh is not a banger but he is a big who can score and rebound, he is an All Star for a reason. If he's available you get him IMO, we'll see if it even happens. It probably wont anyways.

David West is a 2 time allstar as well, doesn't mean I'd want him on this team either.

It's not so much about the comparison between Delonte West and Chris Bosh. The fact is that our backcourt is solid. I love the Mo Williams/Delonte West combo. It was unfortunate that both struggled during the Orlando series, especially Mo. They play off of each other and LeBron extremely well. The "let's not worry about chemistry" concept hurt us during the trade deadline. But, I think it deserves some credibility here.

I'm more concerned ripping out the heart of this team in Delonte right after a tough exit from the playoffs. Especially since Delonte played extremely well - it seemed he improved during the playoffs (excluding the possible game winning shot from the corner in Game 1 which he hit against Washington last season). It's not the backcourt that's the problem. They are young and talented. We need to fix the frontcourt. And I am hesitant to do that by messing up our backcourt. Delonte is more than just a funny guy and fan favorite. He's a ridiculous defender and this team has a defensive identity. He and LeBron to me are untouchable.

Hahaha!! I agree that Lebron is the ONLY untouchable!! However Mo or Delonte would have to be traded for only a Superstar!!

Let's face it. The back court is tiny. One of the things need to be address this season or next is the size of our back court. A bigger guard will need to be added and probably take Delonte's place at the 2, moving him to 6th man.

I wouldn't mind a bigger guard, especially a true point guard. Mo and Delonte are decent at handling the ball but they really are more shooting guards. They are essentially combo guards, but I think both have more SG in them than PG. Yeah, we have a small backcourt. That doesn't mean they are not talented. They to me represent a nice balance of offense (Mo)/defense (Delonte). Delonte can guard bigger shooting guards, he did a great job on Rip Hamiliton and Joe Johnson. His size really doesn't concern me unless he's guarding someone like Turkeylips who's 7 inches taller than he is. If we would have had a better (or more defensive/athletic) PF it wouldn't have been an issue to begin with.

Delonte cannot be blamed for the defense on Hedo. I think he did a decent job despite the mismatch. Again, it's our frontcourt that's the problem.

EDIT: Also, I'm someone who would love to have Chris Bosh on this team. Despite his reputation for being too soft and too much of a finesse player, he would be a beyond this world upgrade for our frontcourt. Let's look at it this way. Say he scores 22 ppg and gives up 22 ppg to Howard, Howard doesn't kill us offensively because he's scoring as much as he gives up. His offense shouldn't excuse poor defense, but I'm just saying. Compare the production we got from Z/Andy/Ben. It was no where near 22 during any of the games we played versus Orlando this season. He also takes pressure off of LeBron because Dwight actually has to play defense versus ignoring Andy or Ben. I think in time with Mike Brown and LeBron, his defense would pick up. You don't have to have Shaq or Dwight's body mass to be a good defender - look at Kevin Garnett.

I just am not comfortable giving up Delonte West. Not now, not after this past season.

Bosh was just on ESPN radio's the Heard and the dude, colin cowherd, said he had "reports" out of Toronto that Bosh could end up a Cav by the end of the draft or start of the season. It was just on about 20-30 minutes ago. remember the word reports is in qoutes for reason in the 1st sentence. Bosh twitter ( http://twitter.com/Chrisbosh ) has some thing about being on the show, I don't think the podcast will come out till tomorrow though.

He talked to Bosh about playing with Lebron and kept making jokes with Bosh about ending up in Cleveland. Bosh was on the way to an appearance right before he left and the host said something along the lines

"Keep driving south for few more hours and you'll take yourself right into Cleveland"

The radio host (colin cowherd) or something, is the show it was on. I was looking for the audio clip and couldn't find it so if any one has any luck feel free to post the audio clip from today. Or any one else hear this?

I was listening to his show today too, I caught it late and only heard a couple questions with Bosh.

Here's the link for those that missed it, Bosh starts at 16:25

I love Colin Cowherd. No really, I do. I tend to get irritated with his anti-Cleveland predictions at times, but it's amazing how often the guy is right on things Cleveland or non-Cleveland related.

Does anyone else listen to him regularly? It took me a while to come around to him because he can be a little grating at times, but he's right more than most media dummies.

For the record, he called the Browns let-down season before it happened last year and then predicted that Mangini will be considered great within the next five years.

Hopefully he's right about Bosh. I'd love it. Question is...what kind of re-assurance can we have that Bosh would sign back? Could the Cavs afford to max out both LeBron and Bosh if we did? Along with putting together a competitive rest of the roster?

That is the one advantage that Cleveland, has over every single other team. Look at our signed palyers through 2010, Mo, Andy (hopefully), Delonte, Boobie. That is most of our team when you think about it, I mean most of our contributors, and we know Z will most likely be resigned so he can play off the bench, and then we still have LeBron and Bosh to sign which is better than most other teams can offer. That is 7 players and we'd still have the MLE.
