I wonder if Fox is ever going to release the FF4 rights to Marvel. They have so thoroughly fucked up that franchise that it is irredeemable.

If anything they need to release Dr. Doom. He would be a perfect big bad for the MCU post-Infinity War. A scientist as smart as Tony Stark, who has an armored battle suit who also happens to be a sorcerer as powerful as Dr. Strange. And he is the authoritarian dictator of his own country (a little something for the Trump fans).

At this point Fox should be paying Disney to make F4 a viable franchise. If I were them, I'd offer Marvel the rights back less ten percent of the movie profits. Free money, and give the rights to a studio that knows what the fuck they're doing.

Spiderman: Homecoming

Really, really good. Probably not quite up there with Winter Soldier, Civil War or Guardians 1, but it'd put it near the top of the MCU.

Easily the funniest MCU so far (the post credit scene was hilarious). Also finally bucked the MCU trend of "villain is evil and goes crazy for no reason" trope. Action was really good. I feel like Sony just took bits from a few Spiderman screipts they never got to make, shoved them in Marvel's face and said, "Here, make something of this." And dammit, Marvel is so good at taking formulaic superhero shit and making an entertaining movie out of it.

Minor qualms: I get why they called it Homecoming, but it was still a stupid title. Some of the minor characters, who will definitely appear in the future Spiderman movies, were kinda one-note and just there because they are supposed to be there. But really, minor qualms.

Completely agree. I posted my reaction in the spoilers thread.

Definetly near the top. I did however liked the hints towards the rest of the characters. It was subtle, but it will be revisited down the road.

Loved the Homecoming title. Been a fan of putting Spiderman's age in perspective. His learning curve & awkwardness were on the spot for me.

No doubt Holland becomes the face of the franchise after Infinity Guantlet. Id even go as far as saying that he will be one of the key voices in bringing the Avengers back together when Thanos ultimately splits them up.

I forsee a ton of Spiderman movies down the road. 4-5 can be done with ease, without even dipping into a non-Peter Parker Spiderman.

I feel like we see all of these on opening night at the exact same time BTW.

Baby Driver was fucking insane.

12/10

Spiderman.

Dope.

Y'all think MJ is still a fire crotch?

Baby Driver: 2/10

I love you @DJTJ but I HATED this movie. Must be another Baby Driver that is getting 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. I like Edgar Wright. Liked Shaun of the Dead. Loved Scott Pilgrim. But this... Unwatchable. Worst dialogue of '17. Action scenes were lacking real juice and life. The main protagonist "Baby" was perpetually boring even though he wasn't supposed to be (judging by the first 20 mins). I honestly couldn't have cared less about his fate at all. Judging by the acclaim, you'll all probably disagree with me, but boy oh boy was this thing painful to sit through.

Gave it two points for Darling.

Nah, I can totally see it. My parents didn't like it either for the exact same reason.

edit: i thought it was beautifully shot, i loved the SLs, and I found Baby to be incredibly charming. I also went in not expecting much of anything from a dialogue stand point. It wasn't billed as such.

I get what you are saying but I really likes it. I do think the final third of the movie has a number of problems including the main motivation for Kevin spaceys character. I think that's often the case with the writer director as they lack the collaboration sometimes needed to critically examine the characters logic etc..

Agree about the last third bit. Actually had that exact conversation with a friend I went with regarding Spacey. Made no sense. You didn't cringe through that terrible dialogue throughout? I get that some of it was intentionally cliche (I think/hope) but a lot of it seemed like very poor man's Guy Ritchie film to me.

Spiderman: Homecoming- 9.848/10

An absolute home run. Re- imagined the character without bogging down I the back story. Very funny without being annoying. Happily overlooked the small plot holes. I think Keaton nailed his character, and played a conflicted villain about as well as you can. He took the absurd and made it mildly believable.

Minor qualms:

1. Annoyed that Vulture survived the crash and explosion. He should have been pulverized. Annoyed by that.

2. He looked more like Mothman than a Vulture. It was spooky, but not a Vulture.

3. How TF did he know about 'Moving Day'????

4. How can the cleanup facility full of dangerous alien hardware not have cameras are the store houses? How would it not be a 24 hour operation of they have no issues moving trucks at all hours? Why are they still cleaning up dangerous alien debris 8 years later or whatever?

5. MJ should have had now of a presence. They almost made her the Peter Parker in this movie (shy reserved one hiding their feelings)... Was that the intention? If so then I take back my issue with it.

6. Someone brought up Vulture's house- I think this is a legit qualm, although I think it was a 'quiet' way of reinforcing his character's claim that he was doing what he did to give his daughter a good life.

That's all minor stuff, though. Takes a 12/10 and makes it a 9.848 or whatever. Was kind of bummed it ended, and even that (' What the f-') and the absolutely trollish end credit scene were fantastic.

Personal Shopper. 7/10. Kirsten Stewart nudity and masturbation scene gives it 5 off the bat. It's actually not really my kind of movie being a ghost horror/thriller. Independent film. Many twists, most are too crazy to be real. Surprisingly I stayed awake and havnt stopped talking about it all day. There's just so many angles as to what actually happened.

Does anyone else really hate seeing movies in 3D/IMAX? It makes it feel like a chore.

Literally do not understand how Spider-Man was that well received... It was solid. It sets up more.

But funny? Eh. The main action was waaaaaay too dark.
