Report: Bosh decides against returning to Toronto, will seek S&T

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sign Sczerbiak to make the salaries match up and probably add Eyenga and possibly a draft pick of some type.

If a big trade like that happens, it seems more likely that the teams would just send cash and players to a third team that's under the cap to absorb the salary difference. Teams under the cap don't have to balance salary. A trade like that saves the owners money and it doesn't have the whiff of circumvention like resurrecting Wally's bird rights does.

Since you nor MoFlo are not actually reading my posts, it makes it all the more worthless to argue over. Nothing wrong with being pessimistic or optimistic either way as long as it isn't your sole outlet. Sometimes you gotta take a bite of realism.

I read 'em, and I stick with what I said.

Unfortunately, I just wasted my time typing a few sentences that won't be read so...

Hey, I read this too!

BACK TO BOSH!

Good idea.

It seems that Bosh is the dream scenario. But, I don't think we can lure him without LBJ committing. I think we should look for a trading partner (like Philly) to try to bring in a potential perimeter sidekick to coax LeBron into staying. Then, he ccan convince one of his friends to join us.

If we got either Iggy or that 2nd pick from Philly (dreams I know, plus we'd have to take on Brand), I think LeBron would be pretty damn convinced we mean business.

I just wanted to point out that the Raptors are hardly a farm team that nobody cares about. With or without Bosh they will still sell out games, people here that love basketball love that we have a team and we support that team. If the Raptors go back to the lottery who cares, they've been there for two years with Bosh so it's not like they are really in a much different position.

And yes trading LeBron and trading Bosh are two humoungously different things, Bosh is a B level star, LeBron is a AAA star. The biggest difference is that Cleveland doesn't need to save face with its fans like toronto does. Cleveland has a history of sucking, and a history of loyal fans so their fanbase will stay strong. But Toronto doesn't have those deep roots like the Cavs do and their owner isn't as loaded as Gilbert so he can't afford to have the fans mad like Gilbert can.

And every thing that I have heard about JJ says that his value is high, and the fact that for two years in a row we have almost aqcuired Amare for JJ Hickson and a bag of chips ( I think Doritos) tells me that JJs value is pretty damn high.

i think this is your key word here. The Amar'e trades were all about money for Phoenix, not an ingenius ploy to pry JJ friggin Hickson from us

If the Cavs haven't proven to Lebron they will stop at nothing for a championship, they never will. This organization has gone 'all in' with Lebron and will continue if he re-signs. No deal with Philly or New Orleans or Toronto will show him they are more committed than before, it might improve the team but it wouldn't show him something he doesn't already know about this organization.

I lold.

But savings and JJ almost got us Amare which will mean that it is possible to get us someone else as well.

Its only going to help us with a team thats deeply in debt/penny pinchers like the Suns owner.but even then,it didnt take us all the way.

My take -

Lebron would ideally prefer to stay in Cleveland. He understands the backlash that will occur if he leaves and is comfortable here. That said, he wants to play with another superstar and will need to convince Bosh, Amare or Joe Johnson to join him or he'll walk. Maybe he'll give indications to Ferry that Iggy/Brand would be enough, but my guess is that he wants an Olympic teammate that he is comfortable with and knows well.

Assuming he can pull that off, we'll still need the assets to work out a side-and-trade, as we won't be able to outright sign another max player. The problem with any Philly deal is that we'll potentially lose the pieces required to get a Bosh, which is not a risk we can take. We have to save Hickson, Delonte and Eyenga for a potential Toronto move (along with other pieces for money purposes), which leaves any other trades off the table until we figure that out.

In an IDEAL situation, we'll know exactly what Toronto requires for a sign-and-trade and then use our other assets to acquire additional pieces, but realistically we won't know that kind of stuff until after the draft.

This is all assuming that Lebron can convince Bosh to come to Cleveland, which is honestly more important than us convincing Lebron to stay. That part is already done, assuming another superstar will join him. The ball is now in Lebron's court and hopefully he's as good at sales as he is basketball.

It will help us with Toronto to though. The fans hate Hedo, and he had the audacity (SP?) to say that he wanted to leave, so they hate him more now. We can offer to take Hedo off of their hands for a combination of expirers (Wally, Telair, Moon, Parker, etc) and young talent (JJ, Green) and maybe even Jamison or Mo if Ferry could swing it.

doug smith (raptors beat writer) had a chat today, here are some interesting quotes from him:

[Comment From Miguel Miguel : ]
Doug, does Turk stay or go and do you see any takers for him?

Doug:
I think he'll go and I know there'll be a teams interested. No one up here may like him a lot but there are people in the industry who think he's still a player. And I'm one of them

[Comment From Guest Guest : ]
Realistically, can a Turk deal be made without the Raps taking on another player with equal or worse baggage?

Doug:
Probably not, no

[Comment From Zan Tabak Zan Tabak : ]
What do you think the odds are of one of the James,Wade,Bosh,Johnson,Nowitzki,Boozer or Stoudemire sign in Toronto?

Doug:
Scant. And the only one I can possibly see would be Bosh and that's at about a 10 per cent chance right now.

[Comment From Ricky Ricky : ]
Hey Doug, thanks for chatting. Turkoglu has a trade kicker in his contract that I'm worried would scare off teams. Do you think he'd be willing to waive it to facilitate a deal?

Doug:
No, there are trade kickers in a majority of contracts; not really a factor

[Comment From Mark Mark : ]
Would you do a Bosh for Bynum S&T even though Bynum's knee problems?

Doug:
I don't think I would, no. I'm afraid of Bynum's knees at such a young age.

[Comment From Mark Mark : ]
So you dont like Bynum's knees, Beasley's attitude, or Lee's game. So what is out there that you do like?

Doug:
Iguodala; Ginobili

Didn't really say anything interesting.

Iggy? LMFAO like Philly would trade them Iggy if they were going to get Bosh. An Iggy/Bosh team would be the reason that they would want Bosh. Maybe the second pick though.

And we would take Turk!

More like "GINOBILI"??

More like "GINOBILI"??

I actually see that as a possibility. But of course that is JMO, maybe a Gino and AMD for Bosh trade? That would give SA a damn good PF/C combo. Although imo it would be Parker and not Ginobli.
