Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

Would Robinson seal the fate on a guard being picked first?

It won't. BPA all the way.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

Why not trade 31 and 33 for Thomas Robinson, #1, Future First and Tristan Thompson for LaMarcus Aldridge (C) and then trade #19 for #13 and take on Shawn Marion (SF) salary from Dallas.

Starting Lineup:
PG - Irving
SG - Waiters
SF - Marion
PF - Varejao
C - Aldrige

Bench: Gee, Ellington, Robinson, Zeller

GET OFF YOUR HANDS GRANT

but seriously, any proposal like that where there are multiple components that need to happen are nearly impossible. I could see one of these happening though (Marion).

That's just bad for the long term. Varejao and Marion are broken players and on the downside of their career. Also, once we would trade for Robinson and Aldridge, the cap room that would be necessary to absorb Marions salary would be non existent.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

I dont understand why alot of you want LMA. He's never led his team to shit. He's 28. Portland wants a crapload in return for him. He gets paid a ton of money. He's not a true center. He kills our cap space. We have a PF who is probably going to be as good as him in a year or two at this rate. Andy will take all his rebounds away. I dont see him as a piece that moves us that much closer to a championship. Maybe I'm the only one.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

Maybe we can trade with Orlando, send them #1 and Robinson for #2 and Vucevic, that'd be sweet... then they can draft Noel, and we can take Deepo. :) Pipe dream, I know.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

i'd LOVE to get robinson. great value for #19, if its for #31 and or #33 even better.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

I just want people to understand that the Rockets gave up a really solid rotational big in Patrick Patterson, who is only 24 years old, for Thomas Robinson. He's Brandon Bass, only better because he has legitimate 3-point range and shoots over 50% from the field. Ok, a really solid, underrated player.

After all of 30 games, the Houston Rockets, after giving up such a decent, quality rotational big, the Rockets are ready to do a salary dump involving Thomas Robinson. I'm willing to take the guy on in a salary dump, but not for much more than a 2nd rounder. His ceiling has been lowered by a large amount after only one year.

The only way to clear enough cap space for them to sign Dwight would be to trade Robinson. The only other way they could do it is by trading three of their rookies from last year, which they will need those three players to help fill out their roster.

There's a link to their roster. Bunch of dudes like Garcia and Brooks who have team options this summer. Unless I'm missing something, they can simply just decline most of those options and be fine. Moreover, their rookies were all middle of the round picks. And apparently they'd rather keep Terrence Jones and MOtiejunas than Thomas Robinson, the 5th pick.

They need to clear Robinsons salary(which is larger than Terrence Jones and Motiejunas's combined) in order to have to max amount of 20-21 to sign Dwight. That's after all the other declined options.

I'm not doing this to argue, but to understand and learn. If they decline all the options, that puts them at about 32.3 million in salary. So, what am I missing here? 20 million and they are still under the cap.

that's for 7 guys. i assume there would be vet min cap holds on roster spots. so, dwight at roughly $20 million and the cap holds to round out the roster means they need to dump either robinson, or everyone else mentioned above, to clear the space. and as a practical matter, they aren't declining parsons's option.
