Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

I don't think hoopshype has the correct numbers. IIRC the cap hit for Asik and Lin should be their contract averaged out over the length of the deal. The numbers shown there are the cap hits that Chicago or New York would have had if they matched the offer sheets on each player. At least that's how I understood the poison pill provision when I read up on it.

On this site, http://www.storytellerscontracts.info/resources/Houston.htm, it shows Houston with a cap number of $45 mill not including Garcia's team option. With a projected cap just under $60 million they need to clear out $3-4 million in order to sign a guy to a max deal.

Trading Robinson may get them securely under if they decline Garcia's option (no brainer).

They definitely wouldn't want a first rounder back because of the cap hold. But #31 it pretty close to a first rounder. They need someone to take Robinson to be able to offer Howard a max deal. We could trade future assets to do it, but why if no one else is offering?

I'd do Robinson for #31 in a heartbeat.

Or they could just draft an international player and keep him overseas.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

realgm reporting we offered 19 for Thomas Robinson. Wonder what we're doing at #1 then...Oladipo?

Follow-up trade rumble: Bulls intend to flip Thomas Robinson in subsequent (or connected) deal if they take him from Rockets for No. 20 pick

Getting Robinson would make it less likely that we draft Oladipo. We're not going to flip both the 1 and 19 picks into two players that we've spent the #4 picks on in consecutive drafts.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

If the Cavs acquire Thomas Robinson for the 19th pick, Grant essentially traded Ramon Sessions for the 5th and 17th picks in the 2012 draft.

Probably Robinson and Deng to the Wizards for #3. Good trade for both parties TBH.

I love these type of analysis.

Re: Woj: Rockets trying to move Thomas Robinson

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet. And, you might want to take this with a grain of salt, as it's from Sam The Bullshit Whisperer:

• According to several FOX Sports Ohio sources, Robinson was in Cleveland on Tuesday night for a concert. Some sources said the Cavs also gave him a physical, but that has not been confirmed.
