For people who want to punt this year and maybe make a go at competing next year, what would be some realistic trades?
Really if we did punt this season, looking to get as much talent as possible for Bauer, then whatever we can get for guys like Martin, Kipnis, Clippard, etc.

Essentially we would be getting rid of anyone who is a free agent at the end of the season/maybe is a free agent after next season and reload for 2020. It would be essentially get solid prospects for Bauer, plus getting money/international money/mid level prospects at best for Martin, Kipnis, etc, but we wouldn't do any buying unless we did a move like we did for Mercado where we trading younger A ball prospect for someone who is at AAA/border line MLB ready in a depth area of another organization.
Personally if I was punting, I would trade Bauer to a place like San Diego for likely one top prospect, my guess would be something like Urias, Quantrill and maybe Ty France type of deal (aka Urias and whoever else decent I can get lol). Then best offer regardless of place for Martin, Kipnis, Clippard, Otero, and Oliver Perez.
Then Mercado would be our everyday CF, Urias would replace Kipnis at 2nd, then the bullpen arms would be replaced by Sandlin, Karinchak(when healthy), Nelson etc to fill out the rest of the roster.
