Elton Brand?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm beginning to not like the idea of getting Brand. JJ is making such great strides and looks like he'll be ready for prime time minutes in the playoffs.

The only players I would include JJ in a trade for are Amare and Bosh.

Elton Brand on the other hand found himself watching the game from the bench in the second half after his injured shouldered stiffened up at halftime.

Head Coach Tony DiLeo made a decision not to risk any more damage to Brand by not playing him.

"His shoulder stiffened up a little. He said he could play if we really needed him. It was a situation where we just decided to throw Marreese in there because his shoulder wasn't quite loose enough."

Brand admitted after the game that he felt soreness in the shoulder and will have it looked at on Wednesday. Right now Brand is listed as day-to-day until further notice.

I'll pass on a guy with that kind of contract until he can prove to be healthy, which won't be this year.

+1

I still take Brand.... especially now if we can get him without including JJ

We wouldn't have to include JJ. And if they asked we say good bye and trade for someone else.

if it is Brand for wally and change I am game

the guy will get healthy and in our system will be back to his 20-10 all star self

but thats me...

obviously we are good enough to compete for a title this year as is...

If Ferry wants him, he can probably be had without JJ. Philly has little to negotiate with. Brand doesn't fit their system, he has a lousy contract situation, and a nagging shoulder injury. I don't see Ferry offering much more than wally and draft picks.

Given his age and injury history over the last few years, Brand is not the type of player you trade JJ for.

WG said that we wouldn't like to include picks in deals. So I am not sure that we will be including any picks in a deal for Brand.

Yea I wouldnt give up JJ just wally and 09 first... or bulls pick

I wouldn't include JJ either. I'd only do it for Bosh. Amare is too much of a look-at-me guy, and that worries me with this teams current chemistry.

I'm not saying I'd trade JJ in a deal for Brand (it's just about certain I wouldn't), but I don't agree that Philly has "very little to negotiate with." Yes his contract is huge and he's had some injury problems in the recent past, but they've only had him for just over half of a season. Why give up so quickly? I definitely think they'd trade Brand if they got a nice deal for him, but they are NOT simply looking to dump his contract. At least I wouldn't think so. It's still early in the Sixers/Brand project, why quit already? They can get anywhere from a 4 to 8 seed in the playoffs this year.

Brand for Wally straight up might be nice. Give him the time to heal. I am still worried about bringing in a major Big that will compete for minutes. Joe Smith is still my ideal big. We need an unselfish smart player that won't make Ben or Av unhappy. Brand would not compliment these guys as much, he would make some redundancies in our roster. Ben has been so good I would like to keep him happy at least this year.
