Official NBA Draft Lottery Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've been saying this since 2004, when it was obvious Saggy D wasn't going to pan out. I'm with ya, Youngster.

Now we get to sit back and watch the annual love affair between Cavs fans and some random college swingman who jumps out of the gym.

 Saggy D

We both remember the Post-Daugherty and Pre-Healthy Z years of Michael Cage, Mark Bryant, John Amaechi, Tyrone Hill at C, Vitaly Potapenko, Andrew DeClercq, Lari Ketner, Michael Doleac, DeSagana Diop, Chris Mihm.

Teams needing centers are facing a quandary. You need a combination of size and mobility to defend the pick-n-roll and the post. The aircraft carriers get you beat up on pick-n-roll even though they may be able to defend the post meanwhile the smaller or thinner big men often have trouble defending the post forcing teams to double the bigger post threats most of the contenders have.

If you don't have a player that can do both it necessitates complimentary players to go with them. Even if you have a defensive player that can do both like a Perkins but isn't a threat then you need a PF with some offensive perimeter skills and range like Garnett. As good as Perkins is lauded to be defensively the Celtics defense was a sieve last year in the playoffs without Garnett

Whoever suggested packaging JJ Hickson for Hasheem Thabeet needs their brain checked for proper functionality...

Hickson > Thabeet right now

Hickson is younger than Thabeet and while he doesn't have the greatest basketball IQ working with LeBron has helped him along. Thabeet is nothing more than a tall guy playing basketball, flat out. He's a solid shot blocker but he's often times so out of position and in turn fouls a lot. He has been absolutely destroyed by the speed of the NBA game.

How sad is it that Matt Bonner is the best option out of that list?

I've always wanted Z to mentor a young center with some skill and most importantly TOUGHNESS... this might be the last year to get it together.

i always thought Petro was gonna blossom. :thumbdown

Parker and West to the Thunder for Westbrook and Ibaka....take it or leave it.

Anybody who thinks we have the ability/inclination to get a lottery pick this year is off-base. What we need to do is try and acquire a lottery pick or two next season, with the likes of Perry Jones and Brandon Knight coming out, who I think will be better than anyone in this draft. If we could trade Houston for the Knicks pick in the first, we should find a way to do it.

I don't think the Thunder would trade Westbrook for anyone on our team.

I'm pretty sure the only way we'll be picking in the lottery is if LeBron bolts and the Cavs blow dick.

edit: and the Knicks pick won't even be a lottery pick next year.

Great post--Not that I believe we have a reasonable chance to get him, but Roy Hibbert is someone the Cavs should keep their eyes on. He actually outplayed Dwight in January http://espn.go.com/nba/recap/_/id/300105011/orlando-magic-vs-indiana-pacers & he has a lot of potential to his post game and is a huge defensive presence. A player to wish for I guess.

Darko and Chandler seem to be the best options out of that list. Looking at that list, id almost rather start AV with JJ and have Jamison come off the bench.

There's no need to act like a bunch of jackasses just because New Jersey got fucked. The lottery is a shitty system that should be abolished, but you won't see teams like Washington complaining. New Jersey deserved that pick and needed that pick more than anyone.

I'd take a look at Nathan Jawai. I liked him coming into the draft last year.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UpJszNGHjNA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UpJszNGHjNA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Injury set him back, but he's a solid rebounder and a force down low.

There are a couple players i want to keep my eyes on in the draft. Eric Bledsoe, Larry Sanders and Hassan Whiteside.
