Official NBA Draft Lottery Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
i agree with waht you said about darko thats spot on, if you combine it with lrry browns and dumars wish to turn him from a tall wing player into a pivot player.

i disagree with the CV and gordon signings, they got desperate and overpaid for two players who have not panned out even when they were healthy.

Every GM makes mistakes. Kupchak and Ainge have been blasted by their own fan bases.

Last summer, the Pistons had their pick of the available free agents, so they weren't desperate. Dumars decided to get Villanueva rather than Boozer. As for Gordon, I wouldn't have gone after him with Hamilton signed to an extension (he gave Hamilton an extension as part of an expression of loyalty, though, since he has that kind of relationship with the players). I would've kept Arron Afflalo who was sent to Denver as a salary dump and was a perimeter defender and one of the NBA's leading three point shooters this season.

But Dumars sees Gordon as a clutch go-to scorer with a body of work in Chicago. How exactly did Gordon not pan out averaging almost 20 points during his time with Chicago? Before Gordon went down with his first injury, he was carrying the Piston offense.

Dumars projected Villanueva to be on the rise in his career. Next season will be telling. Unlike Gordon's contract, Villanueva's is pretty reasonable. Kuester benched Villanueva quite a bit for not defending well. Villanueva responded by putting in greater effort on the defensive end. He's expected to contribute to team defense rather than be a DPOY candidate. Hamilton and Billups were touted as offensive-minded players when they came to Detroit, but learned to defend their positions as they got acclimatized to Piston culture.

gordon is a good streak shooter, who kuester has done a great job with incorporating his gunning into the offense, but for that money i think he is overpaid and not going to give the intangibles a team needs from their high salary players to win in the NBA.

I understand your POV.

As the season went on, Gordon's defense and hustle improved quite a bit, especially during the last 10 games. He was diving for loose balls like I'd never seen him do as a Bull. Gordon stated that he has an overall game that was neglected in Chicago because he had to score for the Bulls. He said he wants to be a more complete player like when he was in UConn.

I'm not crazy about his contract, but I won't complain to see him round out his game.

Word is Hamilton and/or Prince will be traded to let Gordon and the other new players assert themselves.

I take it you're happy that Gordon will be playing for the British national team, though.

thats news to me, last i heard he turned them down for last summers euro games and with deng injured the team barely competed, now the olympic committee might not even allow us to represent the home nation at the olympics. If he has changed his mind that would be great, he will thrive with the closer 3point line and zone defense.

And don't look now, but the Wizards are going to be a powerhouse in the East in several years. They've got a lot of money to play with and they have a lot of young talent now.

The Wizards have the same bunch of knuckleheads they've always had.

The Draft Lottery's flaws is the exact reason to blame for alot of NBA teams not drawing and being in financial trouble, The Timberwolves for example, have never had higher than the #3 pick in the draft in Franchise History, How does the NBA expect for these teams to draw fans when they never get the chance to pick the super stars in the draft???

the timberwolves being in trouble has more to do with bad drafting and management decisions than anything else. just look at some decisions they've made over the last years:

picked oj mayo and traded him
picked brandon roy and traded him
picked 3 PGs and traded one of them

 Are people exaggerating about how unfair it is that NJ didn't get the #1 pick or are they just that stupid? They may have had the best chances, but they only had a 1 in 4 chance of getting it. 75% of the time, the worst team will NOT get the #1 pick. There is nothing mysterious about this or any other draft lottery result.

The Wizards got the 5th pick last season and i didn't see anyone crying about it. Shit happens, obviously the Wizards have the first pick now.

Interesting. I'd have thought that news of Gordon playing for the Crown would have gotten out to all British fans.

The Detroit Free Press and UK Telegraph, among others, reported it.

It would be unfortunate if Great Britain didn't play in the London Olympics. As I understand it, Gordon and Deng are the only NBA players with British citizenship. The home grown talent from the Euro leagues will need to give those two major support if the British national team is to compete with the US, Spain, Argentina, Lithuania, etc.

It'll be interesting to see what the Timberwolves do this year.

There is something wrong with the Timberwolves management and/or scouting team. Very wrong.

As far as I know, host nation gets automatic qualification into vritually every competition, so GB are guaranteed a place. Pops Mensah-Bonsu also plays for GB, he was with Toronto last year.

Either way, Gordon or no Gordon, GB isn't gonna achieve much. We may not even be a Top 20 international team.

they revoked that rule for this olympics i think
