Will we lose CV to the Pistons? Why or why not?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There is money to playing next to super stars, so 500k alone most likely will not sway him. But the pistons will have 17-19 mill to get Ben Gordon and CV. Lets say its 17 million. They can offer Ben 10 million a year, which I think he will take as chicago will not make an offer that high, (he is not restricted, but because he is playing on the qo, they retain his bird rights). This leaves 7 million for CV, still not a bad cost for a guy with his upsdie. That is a 1.5+ million increas per a year...over a five year contract with the bigger increase allowed that is 8 million more than cleveland will offer. That in the end, might be tough to turn down. Even for the chance to play between Shaq and Lebron.

If he does turn down the extra money to play in cleveland, CV will instantly become one of my favorite cavs.

People are forgetting about Hedo Turkoglu. Why wouldn't the Pistons try and get him. I can see them going for Turk and Gordan.

He is a sf, and its rummored that portland is going after him hard. That will make protland and even tougher team....makes them legit contenders with SA and Lakers in the west.

Ring chasers are typically players near the twilight of their careers.

I can't see CV turning down the extra money if Detroit decides to pursue him.

Charlie is young player who I dont think gets how meaningful winning a championship is. Older players like Kidd do. So if Charlie is stuck between championship and money, he goes money. If I was Ferry I would say look, we really want you but we have other options besides you. If you want to be a Cavalier that bad then sign the dotted line but if you are chasing for the highest bidders then there is no point in sitting here.

I dont think any team is desperate for Charlie which I think favors us. Young players tend to get antsy and just want to sign a deal. Detroit will have there hands full with the big names so if they wait for the last month of FA to go after Charlie then shit out of luck.

Ferry needs to let CV know that the 5.5 mil can be a one year show us what you can do deal. If he performs well then Cleveland will have enough cap space to sign CV long term. Face it Cleveland is out of the running for Bosh or another star. CV can earn his payday this year while possibly getting a ring.

So let's say Boozer does not opt out, I wonder if Detroit then turns attention to Millsap prior to pursuing Villanueva. That would be a good situation for us, and I Really think Detroit would value any of the 2 Utah guys over CV, but you never know.

I just hope Boozer opts his ass out of Utah, he's a great distraction for other teams to look at while we nab CV...

My hopes are that Boozer opts out and signs with Detroit, so his sissy-ass will have to play us 4 times a year and come to the Q twice a year to get dominated.

I dont really see why the pistons would look at a guy like cv before they look at Boozer or Milsap. CV is a really good young player but the Pistons need a post player not a guy who can shoot threes. Correct me if i am wrong but the Jazz only have money to sign one so who ever they get Pistons would imo get the other.

If Boozer opts out I think it guarantees that he's sure he'll get paid by Detroit. Which leaves CV up for grabs. I doubt Boozer would even think of opting out if it means not getting paid over what he's getting now.

the problem is it now looks like boozer won't option out and i think if that won't happen charlie becomes one of detroits primary targets. it's his first big contract so i doubt that he will sign with us if detroit offers him 2-3 mio more per year

chad, rumors of pistons adding charlie v and ben gordon. is the "big" moves by joe d? or are we waiting for trades to add the franchise guy to bring it all together? ben and charlie are good complimentary pieces, but championship material, dont know.

I think Ben Gordon is their top target. But they'll have competition from the Bulls and Thunder. I think Charlie V is another target ... but the Cavs and Mavs will make a run at him too. Last thing the Pistons want to do is overpay Charlie V ...

Boozer WILL opt out. If he does not opt out, his soon to be ex wife will get half of whatever he signs for in Utah. If he leaves for a new deal, she does not. Windy said this in a podcast earlier this week I believe.

It would make absolutely no sense then for him to take a 50% pay cut to stay in Utah where he likely doesn't want to be in the first place. He wasn't exactly a fan fave there and faced massive criticism while missing time with various injuries.

He is opting out, and I doubt Detroit has CV in their sights unless all other options fail. The only thing I wonder about is whether CV will string it along long enough to find out what Detroit or other teams want to do. Anything can happen with Boozer, Milsap, etc. If I were looking for money, I might wait to see how it plays out, but then the risk will be that teams could spend their MLEs on other people. That's the only thing that has me wondering. Will CV wait and risk it?

We'll soon see.

CV will go for the money, no doubt in my mind. If the money is equal - say between us and Dallas - then I think he would choose us.

We have to hope Det goes elsewhere with their FA dollars.
