Will we lose CV to the Pistons? Why or why not?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Detroit overpays CV we still have very good options.

We will not lose CV to Detroit because, Detroit has more money to spend, there are better PFs available.

Detroit has a lot of money to through at CV to keep him away from Cleveland. I think Cleveland his second on his list.

If I'm CV I wait on Detroit. The Cavs have fewer options so I'm sure CV figures the CAvs will wait for him. CV knows that although he may not be #1 on the Pistons list but they do have more money and if Boozer does not opt out he will likely be there choice. I doubt CV becomes a Cav this week.

Yeah CV is definitely going to a team without a coach and that is in rebuilding mode with a GM that hasnt made a good move in awhile. Detroit has money but Cleveland has stability, good core of players, a great front office, and were very good already.

Are you kidding me? Detroit's not going to go for CV when they can outbid us on Artest! He'd fit so well into their system and I know they've exchanged nothing but compliments and pleasantries.

A simple misunderstanding, really!

I say, YES. We will lose CV to the pissedons...

Why? Because they can pay him more, period.

I don't think Ferry waits actually.

If CV doesn't sign I imagine he would immediately move on to other options. At least I would.

I can honestly say I am shocked with the overwhelming responses here that CV would go to Detroit for a little bit more cash than the Cavs could offer.

I don't think Detroit will overpay Villanueva because they want to keep some extra cash available for a bigger name FA.

It's also hard to believe because when looking at Cleveland vs Detroit it's not even an apples to apples comparison in the least bit.

- LeBron & Shaq VS unknown roster for next year.
- Championship run VS will they make the playoffs?
- Thriving franchise with a great owner VS What disaster is next?
- Team with a coach VS Team without a coach.
- National & Internation attention VS A team that is fading and losing interest from NBA fans.
- Structured VS Rebuilding.

Are none of above points of any value to Charlie and his camp, or is it really all about the money which won't be overwhelmingly more than what the Cavs can offer anyway?

NBA players in Charlie's position will take more money 9 times out of 10 no matter what the situation.

I'm not so sure Detroit would actually go over the mid-level to bring him in. With there cap room they could have better options.

What options???? (1) Artest - unlikely to take MLE, Frye - 7 footer but not much else ?????

I think he would target Sheed or McDyess next, perhaps Brandon Bass.

If we strike out on all those (very possible) then he would have to start considering trade options.

I thought Wallace was chosing between the Spurs and someone else (not the Cavs)

Thinking about this a little more now...

Detroit is in the running to get the top free agents Boozer, Gordon, Millsap, and maybe Hedo. They are not the teams after those guys. I could very well see Detroit over-paying any of those free agents just so another team doesnt get them. This would leave less money for them to sign CV. That's the only way I really see Charlie not going to Detroit.

I think CV knows our payroll situation considering he's been hearing about us beings interested in him.

And even with him knowing that yet still mentioning Cleveland so many times on his twitter makes me feel like he wants to be here, whether he is going to get paid big or just start out with the MLE...
