Win or lose this series and championship, we need to make some moves

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If we do not win a championship in 2009 or 2010 I believe LeBron James is a goner. Winning in the regular season is great, but championships matter most. The Nets are going to have a lottery pick this year and next (unlike the Knicks) and they already have a lot of talent AND cap room to sign LeBron. They will be moving to Brooklyn by 2011 IMO so it might make sense for LBJ to stay here and use his PO and let the Nets get yet another lottery pick to build their core EVEN MORE. LBJ is gone if we do not improve drastically over the next year.

I propose trading Delonte away. I love the kid so don't get me wrong on this ok, but you have to trade talent to get talent, and we can't expect another Mo Willaims type of deal. We also need someone who won't wear a noose around their necks in the playoffs.

We just need to get meaner up front. I'm sick of seeing all our big guys pushed around by everyone. But I agree that we find the best offensive bigman we can find for once, and try to mold him defensively.

I still really believe we should do everything in our power to get Amare Stoudemire. Especially since his value will be as low as it will ever be after the eye injury and the fact that everyone knows Phoenix are looking to shed salary.

I could swear Andy can't be signed and traded along with another player though, so I think he's out.

who's to say we don't offer 5-10 million plus Sasha to OK City for the third pick and draft THABEET, or do something similar with another team?[/b]

This thread should be locked based on that comment alone. :chuckles:

We definitely need to get more athletic upfront, that's been exposed this series. AV would be nice as a defensive center, but he's just not athletic enough to run out and guard the 4. I think at the 4 and on the bench is where we need to get better. West is fine at 2, especially if we had an all-star 4 to be the second option. Same with Mo. So are starting group would be:

PG: Mo
SG: West
SF: Bron
PF: all-star PF
C: AV

This would be ideal imo. Moving AV to Center is a more natural fit, he can D up bigger guys ok, but the quick guys on the perimeter still give him issues. West is fine at the 2, we really need his perimeter D there. We need to retool the bench, but I think through the draft, MLE, and the improvement of D-block and JJ should be able to accomplish that.

We really aren't that far away, it's just sad that we're not there yet.

Please, enough with this the sky is falling and we need to rebuild. This team won 66 games for a reason. Yes, we have struggled with the Magic but they are not a team without weaknesses as well. If they merely hit their season average of 3 pointers, this series is at least 2-2 or maybe even 3-1 Cavs. This series has however exposed the Cavs need for better post play, which Ferry will have to address this summer. I think so of us may have fooled ourselves thinking that the addition iof Joe Smith was enough to carry us through the playoffs. Joe, for the most part has been a non-factor. The Magic are playing well (above their heads with the 3 pointers a bit but that happens), with confidence and have presented some match-up problems for the Cavs. The Cavs, on the other hand, have turned the ball over too many times, missed open looks and Brown has clearly lost confidence in his bench, which exposes the Cavs depth problem.

Once again, people saying we should just hope that NEXT year if we face the Magic that their 3 pters aren't falling. Sure has worked for us this year.

Cavs need to make BIG moves this summer. Not rebuild, because obviously if we do that LeBron is gone, but acquire a few new players and one of them better be an All Star.

The regular season W/L record means jack and crap if you can't win in the playoffs, and that means being prepared for the teams you're LIKELY to face.

We're LIKELY to face Orlando at some point in the playoffs for the next few years, so we NEED an overhaul to exploit their weaknesses.

There's nobody on this team that should be considered untouchable except one guy, period.

I think getting rid of Ben,Wally(unless he signs for 3 mil),Sasha and adding a defensive center that can finish like Tyson Chandler or Marcus Camby plus adding a versatile defenisve stopper like Ron Artest or Gerald Wallace would be the perfect offseason because you add strictly what you need, a couple of players, and you only get rid of a few players that haven't even contributed hardly at all. Than we can move Z to the bench for like 20 minutes a night. Perfect for me.

Dwight's doing the same thing he has done to everyone in the first two series and all season long. The only thing he is doing better is hitting free throws...his rebs are actually down 3 from the first two series. Guys like Rafer Alston and Michael Pietrus are why we are losing. Mo Williams shooting 30% on 18 attempts a game is why we are losing. Not sure how Rasheed changes that.

I've held off on "next year" posts since the trade deadline, but the direction these posts are going leave me confused.

We need youth in the front court, and I will lobby for a young center until I am blue in the balls.

That said, we are a backup small forward who isn't named Wally or Sasha away from matching up with this team exceptionally well. Wally looked okay at times last night, but his knee puts him in plenty of bad positions on help defense and closing out on shooters. When everyone was calling Sasha our savior, I hated to be the guy who painfully brought up Sasha's biggest flaw: he is a deer in the headlights on the road. Our gameplan was to double off Skip's man to help and let him shoot from the outside. In Rafer's career, he will have one explosive game for every 2 or 3 terrible games. We just witnessed his one good game.

Delonte has been playing fairly well, but in big minutes he gets tired and loses his main advantage over Hedo: speed.

Give me a long SF who is a defender in the draft, sign me AV and pick up Gortat for the MLE, and I'm a happy camper.

this is win now trade. i tried to get tyson chandler but we would end up giving up too much to match salaries.

i want amare. hes a much better player than bosh. the suns also probably want to get rid of a nasty contract like jason richardsons so here is a little pipedream. we would lose a little defense but i think we would be straight filth

the salries match up so well its scary

PG: Mo Williams/ Jason Kidd (MLE)
SG: Jason Richardson/ FA
SF: Lebron James/ Kinsey
